This was Borsang fishing park where they specialize in them (the location tagged is Dream Lake Fishing Resort Chiang Mai, partner lakes). They can get much bigger than the ones I caught, this cat pictured was one of five. Big thanks to Reiner Agethen, owner of Dream Lake Resort) for making this happen! At Dream Lake, you can target numerous “bucket list” fish: giant Siamese carp, Mekong cats, pacu, Redtail cats, tiger catfish, giant snakehead and more. I was fishing the other location, Borsang Lake, which holds mainly giant mekongs. This was a unique experience and worth trying.”

I can highly recommend this tour. Perfect service, pick up from the hotel in time by the super friendly owner, excellent guiding by a local Thai guide and the fishing was truely amazing. I caught 8 Mekong Catfish during the 1/2 day session with the biggest one over 30kg. Great sport!

Nach einem zufälligen Besuch am Dream Lake kam ich mehrere Jahre immer wieder an diesen Ort zurück da ich leidenschaftlich angle und diese kleine Oase für mich immer die reinste Erholung auf meinen Reisen war.
Das Angeln kann manchmal schwierig sein aber was gibt es schöneres als in der Sonne mit einem kalten Bier in der Hand von seiner Trasse aus zu angeln,auch wenn die Fische mal nicht so mögen.
Der See ist die reinste Wundertüte,da weiß man nie was an den Haken geht und dort schwimmen richtig große Fische rum.
Reiner setzt alles in Bewegung um den Aufenthalt hier am See vollends zu genießen, vom abholen am Hotel bis Ausflugsmöglichkeiten organisieren und Angeltipps.
Highlight ist auch noch das wunderbare Essen seiner Frau Ploy ,dort wird immer frisch und mit viel Liebe gekocht,das macht das ganze wirklich zu einem wundervollen Ort der Erholung.

I have fished at Dream Lake many times over the years and keep coming back. I particularly like the peaceful, rustic setting with the chance to catch a very wide range of species, including some absolute monsters. The fishing cabins are clean and comfortable and I like being able to fish whenever I like without a guide. The food cooked by Ploy is first class. The fishing isn’t always easy but a little patience and fishing the correct methods (listen to Reiner’s advice) definitely bring rewards.

“Me and my father spent a day fishing Borsang Lakes for Mekong Catfish which was expertly arranged by Reiner from Dreamlakes. We were picked up on time and taken to the lakes to be greeted by a more than helpful guide Pong. He was able to get us straight into fish and we had a most enjoyable day, although the fish fight very hard so we were exhausted by the end of the day. We ended up well into double figures of fish with the biggest being around 35kgs. Food was provided as part of the package and was also delicious. If you are looking to do some fishing whilst in Chiang Mai then get in touch with Reiner, he has a wealth of local knowledge and is extremely helpful!”

“Ich war ende Mai Anfang Juni 09, wieder fuer drei Wochen zum Fischen in
Thailand. Reiner organisierte fuer mich, und begleitete mich auch, einen
Trip auf Freshwater-Stingray am Mae Klong River in der naehe von Bangkok.
Nachdem ich das schon dreimal gemacht habe, allerdings an einem anderen
Fluss, mit einem anderen Anbieter, und dreimal nichts gefangen habe,
hielten sich meine Erwartungen diesmal auch sehr in Grenzen. Aber nach
einem hartem und anstrengenden Drill konnte einen Stachelrochen mit mehr
als 2m Durchmesser und ueber 100kg landen. Einfach grossartig.
Nach ein paar Tagen in Krabi war ich wieder eine Woche bei Reiner am
Dreamlacke. Dort konnte ich nach jahrelangen, vergeblichen Versuchen,
meinen Wunschfisch Nr.1, einen Spotted Featherback an Land ziehen. Auch
einen der scheuen Giant Gourami konnte ich mit Reiners Hilfe ueberlisten.
Der schoene Alligator Gar waren noch die Draufgabe.
Zum Abschluss machten wir noch einen Trip auf Snakehead an einen der
Stauseen nahe Chiang Mai. Diesmal ging Reiner leer aus, ich hatte in vier
Stunden 5 schoene Snakeheads. Einfach wieder ein toller Urlaub

“After our 9 hour drive from Bangkok we were glad to arrive at Dream Lake to the welcoming sight of fish rolling on the surface…and big fish. This would be our first introduction to the Amazon fish Arapaima, Redtail Catfish and Peacock Bass. After a couple of thirst quenching cold beers it was round to our bungalows situated on the bank of the lake that would be our fishing platform for the next few days.
We kicked off the fishing the next morning with various people in the group catching fish from the start, except our mate Grant who tends to worry more about where to put his empty beer bottles than where to put his bait! We caught many species including Redtails, Shovel Nosed Catfish, Tiger Catfish, Aligator Gars and our best fish the Peacock Bass and Arapaima. All were in good condition. The Peacock Bass put on a superb fight as did the Redtail catfish which fought extremely hard! The Arapaima also put in a good performance and we were all chuffed to see one on the bank. All in all it was a great trip, we were well looked after, the rooms were clean and more than adequate, and the fishing great. We hope to get back for a few days again soon.”

“Hallo Leute Ich war Heuer wieder, wie schon seit vielen Jahren den ganzen Jaenner, mit meiner Frau Rosi in Thailand. 50% unserer Urlaube gehen fuer die Angelei dauf. Ca. eine Woche sind wir jedes Jahr bei Reiner am Dreamlake. Wenige Minuten von Chiang Mai entfernt liegt der kleine vertraeumte See, wo man so richtig Abschalten und Entspannen kann. Einzigartig ist auch das fischen vom Balkon des Bungalow aus, wenn man nachts zum Fischen aufhoert, einfach angeln raus und rein in die gute Stube.
Vom Fischreichtum und von der Artenvielfalt her ist der See einzigartig. Ich habe bei Reiner schon einige Kapitale Faenge gelandet, unter anderem grosse Redtail, Alligator Gar, Tigercatfish, mehrere Arapaima und vieles mehr. Meine Frau Rosi hat sich keineswegs gelangweilt, sie hat von Reiners Frau Ploy einen Kochkurs in Thailaendischer Kueche bekommen, was mir jetzt zu Hause sehr zu gute kommt, und immer diverse Ausflüge zu den Hot Springs und lokalen Maerkten gemacht. Ich freu mich schon riesig auf den naechsten Urlaub.”
