Giant Siamese carp (Catlocarpio Siamensis)

Giant siamese carp fishing in ThailandName: Giant Siamese carp (Catlocarpio Siamensis)
Status:Native.
The largest Carp species in the world. As a result this species is known as ‘the mother of all carp’. The giant Siamese carp has a maximum size of over 250 kg. Firstly known for their hard fighting strength. Secondly and less commonly known for their extremely wary nature. The Giant Siamese carp (Catlocarpio Siamensis) is certainly a great catch for anglers fishing in Thailand. Catlocarpio is not common to Northern Thailand because of the high price for juvenile fish not many are stocked to the fishing waters. We stocked Dream Lake Fishing Resort which is the premier destination of Northern Thailand in 2003 with 50 juvenile carp. Those juvenilles have grown very well up to 50kg as you can see in the photo below. New stock of fish (300kg with an average size of 5-10kg) will be released in late February 2020.
Best time: June until November (avoid the days around full moon)
Best baits: Breadcrumb mixed with rice husk and pellets, occasionally the go for a meaty bait like sausage and chicken heart.
