Name: Redtail Catfish (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus).
Status: Introduced.
The Redtail catfish is native to the Amazon basin. However they have been introduced to many man made fishing lakes in Thailand. Certainly one of the most common caught introduced fish species in Thailand. Dreamlake fishing resort has stocked this species since the lake first opened. Best baits: The Redtail catfish (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus) will take live baits and dead baits. In addition earthworms and chopped meats. Certainly a very strong fighter however they will stick to the bottom of the lake and make charging runs to snags. Generally regarded as a nocturnal feeder. Regularly caught at Dreamlake in a size of 10-30kg.
