Status: Native. Really rare in the wild, but sometimes caught by local fishermen in Mae Kwang Dam up to 30 kg. The Sheatfish (Wallago attu) can grow to 2.5 m in length. The Wallago attu is also know as the “Man eating catfish” after it supposedly developed a taste for Human flesh after feeding on dead bodies which had been laid to rest in rivers in India. This large predator has also been rumored to take, water birds, ducks and small dogs in up-country Thailand but there is no actual proof of such cases.
Best baits: Can be targeted by anglers fishing in Thailand with live and dead baits aswell as Lures and large streamer type fishing flies.

Name: White Sheatfish. (Wallago leeri)
Status: Native. Rare in the wild, but sometimes caught by local fishermen at Ping River NP up to 15 kg. Considered as a really rare catch at Dreamlake resort.
Best baits: Deadbaits and chicken heart by simple ledgering on the bottom.
